How to export X (Twitter) bookmarks

Xkeeps exports the bookmarks that your signed-in X account can access into local files. Start with a full update, check the collection result, then select the records and media to download.

Collect your own bookmarks

Install Xkeeps in desktop Chrome 120 or later. Sign in to your own X account in the same browser. Open Account and confirm the connected account before fetching content.

On Home, select Bookmarks as the content source. For a first collection, use a full update. Keep the page open until it finishes; the progress and final result tell you what was checked.

Choose the right download scope

The latest snapshot contains the observations from one collection run, including records that were already present. It is not a list of newly added bookmarks only.

Choose the accumulated archive when you want previously saved history too. Use the publication-date filter to narrow the selection. This date is the original post date, not the date you bookmarked it.

Export records and media

JSON is the best choice for restoring records into Xkeeps. CSV is useful for spreadsheets; Markdown is useful for reading and notes. You can select more than one format.

Text and author names are record data. Actual avatars, post images and videos are separate download selections. With selected media, the export is a ZIP containing records, downloaded media and an HTML viewer.

Verify the backup

Extract the ZIP, open its included HTML viewer and check a few records. Disconnect from the network to confirm that selected media really works offline. Keep the whole extracted folder together.

A full update checks accessible pages; it cannot recover deleted, inaccessible or X-restricted content. If the result reports partial coverage, do not treat it as a complete copy of every bookmark.
